FIELD NOTES
Weekly Coordinates from the Edge of Next A five-minute recalibration to reset your attention and realign with what actually matters.
Orientation Signal
"The further one goes, the less one knows." — Lao Tzu
You're not outside the pattern. You're shaping it.
You’ve been doing all the right things. Solving hard problems. Managing complexities. But a subtle part of you holds back—quietly scanning, measuring, analyzing.
This habit once served you. It kept you safe, smart, ahead of the curve.
Now, it's the very thing keeping you disconnected—from influence, clarity, and being deeply seen.
Today's Shift Point
Smart, ambitious leaders default to distance when things get complex.
We pull back. Observe. Evaluate from above.
But clarity doesn't emerge from detachment.
It arises from participation.
Presence isn't optional—it's the mechanism of transformation.
Try This: The 90-Second Re-entry Protocol
Why it matters:
When you hover above a system too long, your body forgets it belongs.
Forgetfulness becomes posture. Posture becomes pattern.
How to practice:
Name it: Identify a dynamic you've been looping on mentally.
Visualize it: Close your eyes. See yourself observing it from above.
Notice: Ask gently, "Am I acting as if I'm outside this?"
Re-enter it: Step back into the situation—not to fix, but to feel. Let yourself belong to it. Breathe deeply.
Sense the shift: Ask yourself, "What changes when I stop observing—and start participating?" Don't rush an answer. Let your body register the subtle shift.
What This Unlocks
You're already shaping the room simply by how you show up.
Performance may impress, but presence transforms.
The next right move won't come from thinking harder.
It’ll come from showing up differently.
Reflect + Ripple
What dynamic are you watching instead of inhabiting?
What shifts when you fully enter the pattern you're shaping?
What opens when you stop optimizing—and start belonging?

Why This Works (and Why It Matters)
This week's Field Note helps you:
Interrupt the loop of analysis-as-protection
Reset your nervous system through direct, embodied experience
Step back into the systems you're shaping—not as an outsider, but as an active participant
Move beyond strategy toward coherence, where the next step isn't forced—it's found
The Setup: You think you're outside the system.
The Shift: You realize you're inside it.
The Outcome: You stop analyzing your life—and start shaping it.
Closing Signal
Return to what’s true. Originate what’s next.

Yes..."posture becomes pattern"...how might we inhabit and emanate the posture and pattern of belonging? Finding our way, step by step toward congruence and coherence...toward the Edge of Next? Beautiful expression, Adam. Looking forward to future signals from Field Notes.
Yes thanks Adam, perhaps feeling our way through an issue allows the body and the thinking mind to co-create a new shape, or possibility, or even a solution to the ‘problem.
